- If you have a XJ, you may want to see if you have bump stops at all. Both front and rear spring bump stops had dried up fallen off. A bump in the road caused a clarking sound from the rear. Turns out that was the axle hitting the frame. Got these XJ rear bump stops would stop the vehicle from bottoming out
