Passion Flower (Passiflora Incarnata) is a grassy vine with a climbing stalk up to 9 m long. Long horizontal rhizomes develop under the ground. The leaves are alternate deeply tripartite with a finely serrated margin, up to 20 cm in diameter, sitting on long petioles. The flowers are large, single, up to 7–9 cm in diameter. The sepals are lanceolate, leathery, with prickly outgrowths at the apex. The corolla consists of five free petals and a “crown”, consisting of two rings of filiform fringes, as well as petals that have a bright purple color. The fruit is a greenish-yellow berry that falls when ripe.
